About

I’m an AWS Solutions Architect focused on cloud-native and AI systems. I build the systems I design end to end, from Terraform and AWS infrastructure through to application code and deployment.

My career started in mining engineering, moved through strategy and analytics at McKinsey, and later into cloud consulting as Principal Cloud Consultant and COO at an AWS Advanced Tier Partner. Over the past several years, my work has become increasingly hands-on, with cloud and software engineering now forming the core of what I do.

I design and build across AWS infrastructure, serverless architectures, containerised applications, data pipelines and applied AI, using technologies including Python, FastAPI, Docker, Terraform, Amazon Bedrock and OpenSearch.

I’m particularly interested in the intersection of cloud engineering and applied AI, with a growing focus on production RAG and AI knowledge systems. The difficult part of enterprise AI is rarely just the model; it is the architecture, data, security, integration, reliability and operational thinking required to turn a promising prototype into a useful system.

Outside of client work, I build and experiment with products and technical ideas, particularly where software can make complex information easier to understand and use.

I’m based in South Africa and work comfortably across UK and European working hours. If you’re looking for an AWS Solutions Architect who can move from architecture into implementation and delivery, particularly across cloud-native or AI knowledge systems, I’d welcome the conversation. I’m also always interested in connecting with people working on interesting problems across cloud, AI and digital products.
